How to be your own Superhero

Damsel Divorcée was created as a way to help others who are experiencing a divorce or are still emotionally devastated by one they’ve undergone. When I was only 26 years old I went through my first divorce and quickly learned that not many people my age could relate to this life-change. I felt alone and like a failure as I watched my happily married friends distance themselves and my single friends all seemed to be getting married and starting their lives, just as mine felt like it was ending. I spent weeks in the deepest depression of my life, until I finally decided that no one was going to save me from the turmoil I felt, so I had to be strong and save myself! I needed to realize that marriage wasn’t the fairytale I thought it was going to be, but I was no Damsel in distress who needed a Prince Charming.

Who Am I?

So, how do you become your own superhero? You start by discovering who you are as a single person. It is so easy when you are in a long-term relationship to forget your identity and become someone you no longer recognize. This is especially true when we marry young and haven’t yet discovered who we are on our own before trying to create a life with someone else. This happened to me in my first marriage. I was 17 when I started dating my ex, he was 23. We married when I turned 20. Although I saw many red flags and had a million reasons to leave the relationship, he was my first love and I was blinded by my love for him. Society has a way of making young people feel like their only purpose in life should be to marry and make a family. We aren’t taught that it is possible to fall in love multiple times or that just because we fall in love, doesn’t mean that you are in love with someone who will be good for you. I was very wrapped up in this idea of needing to marry and live happily ever after, and never even questioned that our terribly unhealthy relationship would continue being bad for me forever.

Throughout the course of our almost 6 year marriage I was never encouraged to be who I was on the inside, instead I was expected to suppress my true personality and become the person my ex wanted me to be instead. He was a very controlling man, who never saw me as someone who should be herself, but rather as a mound of clay which he could mold into the perfect wife. As much as I loved him, I felt as if I were living in a mental prison filled with emotional abuse and self-doubt. When he ended up filing for divorce I was left a shell of a human. I hated the person I had turned into because of him and I had no idea who I really was, because I was never given the opportunity to explore that. I was terrified to be on my own, but it was that sad year of self-discovery in which I learned I could have my own opinions about which music I liked, what movies I wanted to watch, which foods I enjoyed the most, how I felt about politics, and what type of humor I actually found funny. It was liberating to discover that I could just be me and that no one was there to tell me it was wrong or to judge me for those opinions. I could sleep with the tv on, dance around the house to Lady GaGa, eat dessert for breakfast and I had never felt so free!

I Am Enough

The next way that you can save yourself is by realizing your self-worth. So many times, we lose this when we are in marriages where unkind words are spoken on the regular. Even if your marriage wasn’t emotionally abusive, the simple fact that your marriage has failed can cause a shift in your self-esteem and make you feel like you are a failure. This mindset needs to change. You are not bad or insignificant or a failure, just because your marriage has ended or because someone else says you are. We all experience failures in life. Those failures should serve as lessons to teach us about who we are and what we do and don’t need in our lives. It is ok that your marriage has failed, it does not make you any less of a person because you made a mistake in marrying the wrong person. Remember this, you are enough! You don’t need another person around you constantly to tell you this, you just need to learn to love yourself and discover what makes you really special. Loving yourself isn’t only important for having a successful single life, but it will also help you if you ever decide to date again. It is in those moments when you feel truly happy with who you are and love your life as a single person, when the world will shine on you again and draw people to you who are attracted to the genuine glow of happiness you are emanating.

Cultivate Your Friendships

Many of you may experience that your friendships will drastically shift through the life-change you are undergoing. I found that many of my married friends no longer wanted to spend time with the newly single me. Other friends couldn’t deal with the depression that accompanied my divorce and weren’t fit to be an emotional support for me. It was through divorce that I discovered who my true friends were. Those friends who loved me during the lowest time in my life and saw me at my worst became even more valuable to me.

It is so important to build a support system while you divorce. Having people around you who will listen to your grief, make you smile and laugh when you want to cry, and will sit with you in silence when you just need someone to be there will make this terrible time in your life a little easier. Don’t take those people for granted because they are true gems in a world full of synthetic stones.

Forgive Yourself

We all make mistakes in our marriages whether it is losing our tempers and saying things we don’t mean, marrying for the wrong reasons, missed opportunities to say what was in our hearts, cheating, nagging our spouses, etc. Many of us have a difficult time forgiving ourselves for our failures that led to the demise of our marriages. It is vital to remember that you are only human. Yes, you may have done some things you aren’t proud of, but this marriage is not over because YOU failed. It is over because you both failed each other. Think of your mistakes as a learning experience; as reasons to become a better version of yourself. You can’t fully learn to love yourself if you can’t forgive yourself.

Allow Yourself to Move On

When I say “move on”, I don’t mean you should go out and date. As a matter of fact, I don’t recommend dating until you have allowed yourself the time to properly heal. I learned this the hard way when I began dating quickly after my first marriage ended. This led me to marry a man who I wasn’t in love with in an emotional fog. This was unfair to him and to myself. What I am suggesting, is that you allow yourself to move on with life in general. It is ok to laugh again. It is a good thing to have fun. Find reasons to get up in the morning and be happy again. Explore those things you have always wanted to do but never did.

Don’t Take Everything So Seriously

One night after my second divorce I was sitting alone in my apartment getting settled in to chill and watch The Bachelorette. I looked over at the Wonder Woman doll my aunt had recently sent me because she knew I was going through a rough time and that I love Wonder Woman. I had been Wonder Woman a few months ago for Halloween and loved that costume. A funny thought crept into my mind: “I should put it on to watch The Bachelorette”. So, I dressed up as Wonder Woman, poured myself a big glass of wine and laughed at my ridiculous favorite show all by myself. You’re probably thinking, “Oh geez, someone has a screw loose”, but this was a pivotal moment in my newly single life. I learned that night that I didn’t need to impress anyone. I learned the difference between being lonely and being alone. I learned that I could be silly, weird, and laugh at myself without anyone else around. For the first time in my life, I was alone but I wasn’t lonely; I was content. I love that corny show, I love dressing up, even if it is just for my own amusement, and I really love that I figured out how to loosen up a bit and laugh at my own stupidity. I know that there are some very real problems in your life, but take the time to sit back, do something silly, and don’t take everything so seriously!

I’m not saying it will be easy to save yourself, because some days it will feel like your life is over and you will never feel happy again, but with time the pain does lessen and the sun does start to shine brighter again. This doesn’t come from being in a new relationship, it comes from allowing ourselves to heal and find love from within. You will get through this tragic time in your life! You can be happy again. You don’t need someone to save you from your sorrow; be your own superhero and save yourself!

KATONGO EXPOSES BOW CHASE AND T SEAN

And she quoted.

** ONLY MAKING THIS POST AVAILABLE TILL MIDNIGHT TONIGHT**

To my fans I apologise in advance for addressing this matter so late AND I at the same time APOLOGISE for even having to address it but I feel now is the right time to say something.

Some months ago a boy by the name of Bow Chase made up lies and stories about me, saying i stole a song from him and his mentor T-Sean. They claimed their song ‘Future Wife’ sounded exactly like ‘Tinofara’ and that they pretty much wrote my song. God knows this is totally false.

Anyway, when Bow Fake was yapping away I kept silent. I decided not to address the matter, as I knew it was all lies and I had no reason to waste my time arguing with liars.

Funny enough when Bow Fake had sent me the track whilst I was in the UK and I was talking to my producer in London I said, ‘this beat these guys sent me sounds really familiar’… then I remembered that I had heard the beat from a producer who I know of in Europe.

I did not want to get involved with the song at that time and I am glad I did not as it turned out it was a stolen beat!! I actually know the European producer, that produced that beat. There are other Zambian artists who I know have stolen beats from youtube or other producers online (who share their beats to gain exposure) and then claimed they or someone local produced it! That’s theft, stop doing it!

Anyway, I decided not to say anything, but simply politely stayed silent and didn’t jump on their song.

Then, the little boy went on QTV to spread his lies about me further. The interviewer (SHOWSTAR) lapped it all up (we all know that Showstar loves drama.)

But what was even more pathetic is the fact that they even aired my telephone number on national TV and Youtube for the public to see. That was a huge breach of privacy and in fact my team had to contact Showstar and threaten to take action if he did not remove the video for violation of Privacy policy on youtube, facebook etc.

Showstar instantly removed the video, (see screenshots)

Due to Showstars unprofessional behavior, for 1 whole month I received a huge number of calls and messages from strangers who had gotten my number from the interview. Luckily, the calls and messages were from lovely fans.

Now I see that Showstar re-uploaded the video, but this time he had the human decency of blurring out my number, the man is really desperate to sell this story I guess 🤷🏾‍♀️

**THE TEA**
Anyway, after the interview that Bow Fake did on Qtv, I contacted the REAL producer of the beat for the song ‘furture wife’. As I mentioned before, that producer happens to be based in Europe. You see, I’m not the type of person that just talks, I take action!

When I contacted the real producer of the beat I told him, about the Zambian artists Bow Fake and Tsean who had stolen his beat without giving him credit. I have included a screenshot of the legal disclaimer in his website which talks about copyright infringement (see screenshot)

It didn’t take long before the producer took action and subsequently had Bow Fake ‘ song ‘furtue wife’ removed from international platforms like YouTube…. if you search for the song it is no longer on YouTube. It is only available on Zambian blogs.

Additionally, a British artist who is signed to ISLAND RECORDS released a song with that SAME beat which Bow Fake stole!!! The real producer of the song had sold the beat to the British artist. This further proves my point that Bow Fake and T Sean didn’t get rights for it, they put someone else name on it as the producer and then released it!! Hoping nobody would find out!!

Have a listen for yourselves, I will let you be the judge 🙊

(Bow Fake and T Sean)

Bow Fake is a clout chaser. Even the fact that he only started mentioning my name when the Slap situation happened, just shows how much of a clout chaser he is.

Let’s see what lies they will try and make up this time! What will they say; that the European artist and Island records stole their music???? 😂😂😂 I bet they will stay silent because the beat was never theirs in the first place. But please I would love to see them try and take on ISALND RECORDS!!!! PLEASE TRY IT!!! They have exclusive rights to that beat, so good luck in court with the label and the REAL PRODUCER!!

Lesson here is – Don’t make up lies about people when you have a lot of Skeletons in your closet just so you can have some clout!!! 🐸🍵

‘People in glass houses should not throw stones’

Sorry that I didn’t want to jump on the song. You should have just called me and told me you were hurt about it and secondly you should not have waited till the Slap situation happened for you to grow balls and even mention this issue. You waited almost 1 year to say something!!! If someone stole my music I’m not waiting almost 1 year to say something. You wanted Clout and when there was some media attention you jumped on it – Pure and simple!!

Call me whatever you want, one thing I DID NOT DO IS STEAL ANYTHING FROM YOU!!!

Sadly I know there are some people who will believe lies but to my AMAZING FANS I am sorry that I even brought myself this low down to expose such nonesense! But the truth always comes out and you deserved to hear it.

And for the non fans and gullible dummies, just because someone releases something first to the public does not mean they are the originator of the material… let that sink in…

Niggas are out here stealing beats then pointing fingers at other people saying that they have stolen songs

😂😂😂😂

Letter To Levy Mwanawasa

29 Jul 2017
Dear Levy,

I am writing you from the future, we have not met.

The year is 2017, and I sit at my window – on the second of a building two floors high, overlooking a road and some flora. It is a beautiful view.

To my right is a book – The Long Sunset. You may be very familiar with its author – Vernon. Not only is the sun setting right now, the 9 years you have been gone feel like a long sunset too – part nostalgia; a dollop of melancholy too. But I’m getting ahead of myself.

You see Levy, I write a fair amount. Politics for the most part, a bit of social commentary, and a whole lot other gibberish in between. I just don’t write letters like this very often. Which is why this feels special and strange at the same time.

I realize you are reading this from 2008. The economy is doing relatively well, you are optimistic about the future. You have done a bit of belt-tightening over the last 7 and half years, and now the ship appears to be stabilizing. Ng’andu is at Finance, the two of you have established a fairly good working relationship. But then you take ill, and stop reading this.

2017. You are gone – as is your fiercest critic – Michael Sata. His Patriotic Front finally swept to power. Your Vice President at the time, Rupiah Banda, took brief control after your demise. 3 years later, he was ousted. In a way, this was inevitable. You may or may not remember the name, but a certain Edgar Lungu is President now. Hakainde Hichilema, about whom you held a certain view, is now the country’s preeminent opposition voice. His UPND is the country’s largest opposition party with 59 members of parliament. He is also incarcerated as I write this – but we will get back to this later.

Your party – the Movement for Multiparty Democracy, is now defunct; at least for all intents and purposes. Its ouster in 2011 precipitated a mass exodus. Many of those you wined and dined with found their way to the PF, including, oddly, your son Patrick. Nevers Mumba, the man you appointed Vice President and later fired, was elected MMD President after Rupiah Banda. If he tried to keep the party together, his efforts were not apparent. For every public show of solidarity within the party, there was a court battle or the other among its senior members. Levy, I hate to have to break this to you, but the MMD eventually split – with 2 Presidents. Felix Mutati, with whom you may remember working too, heads the one faction, while Nevers heads the other. The courts seem disinterested in the entire issue altogether now. Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba is Vice-President of the UPND now. He was also Hakainde’s running mate – which brings me to the next point.

The constitution was amended. We now have running mates, as opposed to Presidents appointing Vice-Presidents on election. Running mates may not be fired by the President now. Also, we no longer require a simple electoral majority to win the Presidency. Had you run for President now, you would be required to poll at least 50% of the vote, plus 1.

I told you about Hakainde earlier. I also mentioned he is incarcerated. He has been, 3 months going on 4 now. This may catch you by surprise, as it would anyone in 2008. You see Levy, Zambia has changed a whole lot since you have been gone. Most of it not good. If I told you why that is, you would probably start kicking. I might write you another letter soon; maybe I go into the circumstances leading to his incarceration then. I will tell you, however, that efforts are being made at having him released.

You may remember braving accusations of tribalism and nepotism in your cabinet appointments. I was too young to understand the merits, if any, to said allegations at the time. I hate to be the bearer of bad news here again, but tribal strife has grown tenfold the last near decade. I could state a few things about why this is, but I cannot tell you with a straight eye, Levy, that I do not have a sense of trepidation about where this may lead us.

You left reserves in our coffers, didn’t you? Aye, you did. Well, we are back in debt now, Levy. It keeps mounting. The efforts you made at freeing us from colossal debt obligations have all been undone. As I pen this, we are negotiating with the IMF for a bailout. Your guess as to what this will mean for us will no doubt be more informed than mine. You have seen this before.

Your significant other seems to have re-invented herself. She has since carved out a political career of her own. You may be surprised at her choice of vehicle, however – the UPND. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Yes? She’s an advocate too, if I should be completely honest. Human and civil rights. She may also be seen championing women’s rights and advancement.

Levy, this could go on ad infinitum. Allow me one more detail, however. Your sternest critic after Michael, Fred M’membe, has seen a few dark days of his own. His Post Newspapers were forcibly shut down and liquidated. The reason advanced was tax arrears. Oddly, numerous other competing publications operate still – some with 10 times as much owed to the taxman. My guess, again, as good as yours. A certain name may make your consideration here too; Edgar Lungu. A new publication has taken its place however. It is called The Mast. If intimidation of its its predecessor’s critically venomous editorial policy was intended, its pages now reveal no success. It is irreverent, partial and unrelenting as ever.

I have talked a lot I think, perhaps it is time I gave it a rest. I do hope you rest satisfied in the knowledge that your efforts at serving your country – though not always well-informed and executed, have been brought into sharper relief, at least in my eyes, by the passing of time. You may have made many errors, didn’t have the best of tempers, and could be rash in your choice of words sometimes, but I would like to think you made honest mistakes. Those I can forgive.

I sit at my window still. The sun long set now. I’m not sure you are able to see any rays over there; and that should help you understand my expectations going forward. We are admonished not to despair, to stay focused in our darkest days and see the light, but sometimes it gets weary, dear Levy. It is getting weary for me.

Yours was a life well lived.

Rest in power.

Regards,

TIZ Says it Doesn’t Condone False Corruption Allegations

Transparency International Zambia says President Edgar Lungu should go beyond pronouncements in the fight against corruption.

And TIZ has said it does not condone false allegations of corruption.

TIZ Chapter president Reuben Lifuka has stated that the results of any meaningful fight against corruption in Zambia should be self-evident and people do not have to believe propaganda to attest.

“While we agree with President Lungu that corruption, whenever it rears its ugly head, should be nipped in the bud, we want to underscore that the PF administration should go beyond mere pronouncements about the fight against corruption. The results of any meaningful fight against corruption should be self-evident and people do not have to believe propaganda to attest to this. Government should move away from a rhetorical approach and put in place strategies to ensure that we reverse the corruption trends in this country. The undeniable truth which we cannot run away as a people is that we have a huge problem of corruption in this country. In fact there are various forms of corruption and it will be amiss of the President and his administration to reduce the debate and concerns to allegations of corruption made against himself and his ministers,” Lifuka stated.

He further discouraged malicious accusations of corruption.

“As Transparency International Zambia, we do not condone false allegations of corruption against any person or institution but we also condemn any attempts to create an atmosphere of fear of reprisals among those who genuinely witness situations of corruption. Whistle-blowing is not an easy act and those that courageously come forward to bring tips and information of possible wrong doing, should not be made to carry the full burden of proving their cases. That is why we have investigative and prosecuting agencies to do that and these agencies in a number of cases, depend on the active participation of the public. Time and time again, we hear law enforcement agencies calling on members of the public who may have vital pieces of information on a particular case to come forward,” Lifuka stated.

” In this new dispensation, it would seem members of the public should only come forward when they have the full evidence of wrong doing of public officials. In fact, the veiled threats made by President Lungu will have the chilling effect of scaring away whistle blowers who will shy away from bringing vital information to relevant law enforcement agencies. Already we have a very weak culture of whistle blowers in this country and that is why we see Ministers and public servants only speaking out when they have left office.”

He further stated that TIZ does not support whistleblowers who maliciously make corruption allegations.

” Again, we reiterate  that we do not support whistle blowers who maliciously make allegations of corruption but we also find it unacceptable to implicitly create a perception that most whistle blowing is about ‘framing and painting government black’. Fighting corruption requires strong leadership and commitment and we will be making a big mistake as country to imagine we will clean up our country of corruption merely by gagging people from expressing their concerns. It is also an insult to the intelligence of the international community to insinuate that they somehow arrive at conclusions on the state of corruption in Zambia merely by reading social media postings and listening to bar room chats discussing corruption in the public service in Zambia,” stated Lifuka.

“The international community has various means of conducting their due diligence and the onus is not on them to prove that we are doing all that is necessary to fight corruption- the ball is firmly in our court as Zambians and President Lungu and his team should not abdicate their role of providing leadership at this crucial period in the life of the nation. The fight against corruption requires honest engagement and we will have no one to blame if we bury our heads in the sand, the world does not owe us any favours, we owe it to ourselves and posterity to rid our society of corruption.

Today’s Health Tip:Never Use Ginger If You Have Any of These Conditions

– It Can Cause Serious Health Problems.
Ginger root is an anti-inflammatory , antioxidant, and digestive superfood. The spice is recommended as a natural medicine for many physical ailments due to its nutrients and health-supporting phytochemicals. There are situations, however, in which ginger is a less-than-optimal supplement to your diet and can exacerbate an already existing problem.
When To Avoid Ginger Root
Here are some of the situations in which ginger should be avoided because of their risks.
1. Blood Disorders
Ginger root is a blood anti-coagulant that promotes circulation.

2. In the case of some blood conditions like hemophilia (in which blood coagulation does not occur properly), thinner blood can exacerbate the condition, making a small cut into a possibly life-threatening hem rrhage.
Beneficial due to exactly these effects for
cardiovascular disease , rheumatoid arthritis , and high cholesterol, it’s best to avoid ginger if you have a blood condition without discussing it first with your healthcare provider.

3.

Taking Prescription Medications
A pharmaceutical is formulated to address a specific symptom and is designed to work in a certain way in the body. Drugs come with lists of warnings and potential side effects.
Because ginger root has medicinal properties, some pharmaceuticals don’t mix well with it. So to prevent any risks, side-effects, read the warnings and inform yourself as much as you can for your own safety.
Ginger is a natural blood thinner and reduces blood pressure; it also regulates blood sugar ( 1 ). Taken together with medication that is designed to do the same can mean too much of a good thing. Hence, ginger should not be taken with anticoagulants, beta blockers, aspirin, or insulin.
A list of drugs known to negatively interact with ginger can be found here .

Headlines South African Ruling has not effect on the current liquidation process of KCM-Musukwa

Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources Richard Musukwa has said that the ruling handed by the South Gauteng High Court in South Africa this morning granting Vedanta Resources an urgent interim interdict against Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) minority shareholder, ZCCM Investment Holdings Plc, has no bearing on the current position of Government on the liquidation process of KCM.

Speaking to the media, after the ruling and flanked by Minister of Justice Given Lubinda and the Attorney General Likando Kalaluka, Mr Musukwa said that there foreign judgments are not enforceable in Zambia until they have undergone a rigorous process and that the Judgement has no effect on the processes going on in Zambia about the liquidation of KCM.

Mr Musukwa’s sentiments were further echoed by the Minister of Justice Mr Lubinda who said that Zambia had a working and effective Judiciary and before matters from outsided can take effect they have to be brought before the judicial system in Zambia.

Earlier, South Africa’s High Court granted Vedanta Resources an urgent interdict halting the liquidation of its Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) unit in Zambia until a final decision is made through arbitration.

Vedanta has been locked in a dispute with the Zambian government since May when it appointed a liquidator to run KCM, which is 20% owned by Zambia’s state mining company ZCCM and the rest by Vedanta. Zambia accused KCM of breaching the terms of its licence.

The dispute in Africa’s second-largest copper producer has intensified concerns among international miners about resource nationalism in Africa.

Mumbai-listed Vedanta denies that KCM has broken the terms of its licence and says it will defend its assets in the southern African country.

South African High Court Judge Leicester Adams said on Tuesday in a ruling seen as a big win for Vedanta that wind-up proceedings must be immediately withdrawn until a final decision is made following arbitration.

“Pending the final determination of the arbitration, the first respondent is interdicted and restrained from taking any further steps in the furtherance and prosecution of the winding up proceedings,” he said.

Vedanta welcomed the decision and said it was committed to resolving the dispute. The legal counsel for ZCCM declined to comment.

It was not immediately clear whether the ruling would be binding in Zambia.

Vedanta had sought the urgent order in South Africa to prevent KCM from being wound up, arguing that the dispute should be subject to arbitration, which cannot happen if the Zambian government is pursuing a new investor.

HH says has always been ready to meet Lungu

We have taken note of the remarks attributed to Mr. Edgar Lungu in today’s edition of the Daily Nation.

Assuming he has been correctly quoted, our simple response is that we have been ready to meet Mr. Lungu without any conditions attached.

We are very consistent and mean well when we say we need genuine dialogue under the leadership of the church mother bodies and resolve a number of outstanding issues in the country.

Our citizens are hurting and time is running out to resolve key issues in the governance of our country.

The church mother bodies have done it before with a proven record of success in resolving the impasse and we believe they can do it again.

All it takes is genuineness and openness in discussions within the spirit of give and take and readiness to implement whatever is agreed upon.

So let’s get on with the business and start engaging with one another under the church leadership.

*Hakainde Hichilema*
*UPND President*

President Edgar Lungu is now the most unpopular political leader in Zambia, UPND

UPND Secretary General Stephen Katuka said Mr. Lungu’s lack of direction on Zambia’s economy demonstrates the reason why millions of Zambians are crying of hardships today.

Mr. Katuka said there is no doubt that if given more more time to mess up the economy, Zambia will be no more.

He said Mr. Lungu has given preference to his foreign crooks in awarding contracts at the expense of the Zambian contractors.

Mr. Katuka said the hearts of Zambians are bleeding due to poverty created by Lungu’s irresponsible leadership.

He said the time for the Patriotic Front to correct the hunger situation they have caused in Zambia is up and the cabinet reshuffles made a few days ago are nothing but an act of desperation by Edgar Lungu

Mr. Katuka said it is a well known fact today that PF is the most corrupt government to have ruled this country ever.

He said the PF have destroyed the civil service, they have punished farmers by not distributing agro-inputs on time and they have made it difficult even for call-boys and marketeers to survive due to high cost of mealie meal and cooking oil.

Mr. Katuka said it is time for PF to pack and go.

CCZ demands that PF govt completely drops Constitution Amendment Bill

The Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) has called the PF led government to completely withdraw the Constitution Amendment Bill 2019 as the Bill was not progressive.
In a statement released on Saturday 20th July 2019 and signed by CCZ General Secretary Rev Canon Fr Emmanuel Chikoya, it has observed that the Bill has too many unfair, ambiguous and undefined pieces thereby not serving the interests of the majority Zambians.
Fr Chikoya has further called on all members of parliament not to support the Bill but instead stand with the majority of Zambians.
On the Electoral Process Amendment Bill 2019 and Public Order Act Bill, CCZ has noted that both Bills are products of the recently held National Dialogue Forum (NDF) which many considered to be an illegitimate process because the manner in which it was managed.
It has also condemned the proposed reduction of the campaign period for elections from the current three months to two months as this will not improve the current political environment.
On the Public Order Act, it states that there was an impression that the police have power to either permit or allow an assembly from taking place.
‘In as much as the law requires that notification be given to the police by those seeking to hold a public gathering, the police service have been seen to take the requirement for notification and response thereto as power for them to either permit or deny the going ahead of a public gathering,’ states part of the statement.
CCZ has further made the following recommendations on the Public Order Bill:

a) ‘The notion of ‘notification’ under the Act needs to be properly spelt out so that both the Zambia Police Service and negatively affected stakeholders, most of whom include opposition political parties during election campaign periods, are properly guided on the proper application of the Act.
b) There is need to provide a timeframe within which the Zambia Police Service can respond to a notification of the holding of a public gathering, that is, seeing that the law provides a five-day window for the holding of such a gathering, then it should follow that the law should provide that the Zambia Police Service should provide feedback to those notifying it within two days of receipt of such notification.
c) The Zambia Police Service should work within a legal prescribed timeline within which to provide an alternative date to those seeking to hold such a public gathering. Such time line should be within 10 working days or any other later date proposed by the party notifying the Police.
d) Such feedback should extend to the availability or non-availability of the Police to police the said event. Further, in providing such feedback, Police should avoid being malicious, arbitrary or worse still act according to instructions from the party in power. The Police must be professional. In a case were the applicant for whatever reason is denied “permission” to hold a meeting, a demonstration or a procession, the police must be bound by law to give the applicant an alternative day and time not exceeding 14 working days in which the applicant must be allowed to hold the said meeting, demonstration or procession.
e) There is need for the Act to give clear definition of what is termed or considered to be ‘normal’ or ‘customary’ processions contained in Section 4 (10). The relevance of having a clear guidance of the aforementioned terms is to provide guidance to the implementers and enforcers of the Act-the Police who may fall into temptation of arresting people on their personal fancies.
f) The waiver given to government ministers not to notify the police when having meetings is a form of discrimination based on political affiliation or opinion. This waiver by the law gives them an advantage to circumvent the need to obtain ‘Police permission’ even where the minister is doing partisan and political functions. Therefore, a clear distinction must be sort between government functions or where a minister is discharging his employment duties and partisan/political functions.
g) Religious gatherings should not be regulated under the Act. This should extend to other non-Christian religious activities; this clause should be removed as it is potentially addressed by the establishment of a Ministry for Religious Affairs and National Guidance as well as taken care of under the exemptions the Minister is permitted to give to certain organisations under the Act.’

CCZ has stressed that unless the points it has highlighted above are considered, the enactment of the Constitution of Zambia (Amendment) Bill 2019 into law will not be serving the interests of majority Zambians adding that it has the obligation to ensure that a Country’s Constitution is clear and easy to understand.
‘A Country’s Constitution must be a public document that must be understood by the ordinary person on the Zambian street. We, therefore, suggest that the best course of action is to withdraw it immediately and let Zambia continue with the current 2016 Amendment of the Constitution. When this government or any other gets serious about making legitimate changes to the Zambian constitution, they must follow proper procedure, open up a proper national dialogue process like one which was spearheaded by the Church, consult with the people of Zambia and enact a Constitution that is in keeping with constitutionalism, common sense and the rule of law,’ it states.
And on the forth coming Katuba Parliamentary By-election, it has called on all political parties participating to ensure a peaceful campaign urging them to battle with ideas than using intimidation and violence.

Everything We Know About Fast & Furious 9

Here’s everything we know about Fast & Furious 9 so far. The Fast & Furiousfranchise will expand this summer with its first-ever spinoff film, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. That movie will follow Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham’s characters Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw on their own standalone adventure, before the mainline series continues next year.

In the years since the original Fast and the Furious hit theaters in 2001, the property has grown by leaps and bounds in terms of box office gross, scope, and even critical reception. The franchise has also managed to attract quite the assortment of actors in that time, ranging from big-name action stars like Johnson and Statham to popular character actors (Luke Evans), actors who have since become super-stars (Gal Gadot), and even Oscar-winners in the forms of Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron. At its core, however, the series is still the story of ex-convict street racer Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his extended family. That hasn’t changed since Fast and the Furious costar Paul Walker’s tragic death during production on Furious 7, either.

Since Universal decided to bump Fast & Furious 9 back to 2020 and give its original 2019 release date to Hobbs & Shaw, there’s an extra year to go until the franchise’s mainline narrative picks up from where 2017’s The Fate of the Furious left things. As such, there’s still a lot that we don’t know about the film when it comes to plot and (in some cases) even casting details. With that in mind, here’s everything we do know about the movie right now.

FAST & FURIOUS 9 RELEASES IN MAY 2020

Fans will have to wait a little longer than originally expected for Fast & Furious 9 to hit theaters next year. Universal moved the film to April 10, 2020 after delaying it for Hobbs & Shaw, but only recently pushed it back six weeks to May 22. Thankfully, by the look of things, the movie’s latest delay was purely a business decision. Fast & Furious 9‘s old April date has now been given to Bond 25, which is getting a rewrite and needs additional time for development. Since Universal is distributing 007’s next adventure, they shifted the ninth Fast & Furious movie away to avoid pitting its tentpoles against one another.

THE ROCK WON’T BE BACK FOR FAST & FURIOUS 9

Fast & Furious 9 hasn’t even started shooting yet, so we’re still a ways off from a trailer being released. Diesel is known for keeping his fans in the loop when his movies are in production and will probably release a first-look image online when filming begins. However, an actual trailer probably won’t be arriving until the end of this year and almost certainly won’t be attached to Hobbs & Shawthis August. With movies like Star Wars: Episode IX and Jumanji 3 hitting theaters in December, that’s likely when the Fast & Furious 9 teaser will drop online.

HOBBS & SHAW ISN’T FAST & FURIOUS 9

Understandably, some fans are probably under the impression that Hobbs & Shaw has replaced Fast & Furious 9 in a more literal sense, as opposed to simply taking its old release date. It doesn’t help that longtime Fast & Furiouscostar Tyrese Gibson publicly criticized Johnson for making the spinoff and, for those who didn’t follow the story closely, seemed to indicate that Fast & Furious 9 had been outright cancelled because of Hobbs & Shaw. That’s not the case and Daniel Casey (Kin) is currently in the process of writing the next Fast & Furious sequel, with Justin Lin returning to direct after sitting out the last two installments.

FAST 10 WILL BE THE LAST FILM (IN THE MAIN SERIES)

The current plan is to end the main Fast & Furious movies with Fast & Furious 10 in 2021 (or whenever the film ultimately reaches theaters). There was once talk of Fast & Furious 9 and 10 being filmed back to back, but that no longer appears to be in the cards. Diesel has further claimed that Lin is already set to direct Fast & Furious 10, which suggests the filmmaker will knowingly set the stage for the finale with the ninth installment. Keeping that in mind: Universal has plans to continue the franchise past Fast & Furious 10 and is moving towards releasing a new Fast & Furious movie (be it a spinoff or sequel) every year in the foreseeable future.

OTHER UPCOMING FAST & FURIOUS FILMS

There’s at least one Fast & Furious spinoff in active development right now, in addition to Hobbs & Shaw and Fast & Furious 9 and 10. The film doesn’t have a title yet, but is described as a women-led spinoff and already has three female writers working on the script in some fashion. Diesel previously claimed that spinoff movie storylines for “various characters” have been written, so there could be even more Fast & Furious spinoffs in the pipeline that we don’t know about just yet. That’s not including Hobbs & Shaw 2, which Johnson has already said he intends to make and wants Jason Momoa to play one of his brothers in. The Aquaman actor had to pass on the first Hobbs & Shaw due to his busy schedule.

Comic-Con: Black Panther 2, Captain Marvel 2, and Guardians 3 Confirmed!

Comic-Con: Black Panther 2, Captain Marvel 2, and Guardians 3 Confirmed!

Today at the Marvel Studios panel at San Diego Comic-Con, it was officially announced that a slew of sequels are officially in development at Marvel Studios including Black Panther 2Captain Marvel 2, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

The first Guardians of the Galaxy was the surprise hit of the second phase in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, grossing nearly $775 million at the box office and earning widespread critical acclaim for its abundance of humor, emotional story and Gunn’s direction, in addition to its soundtrack becoming the first album of its genre consisting of previously released songs to top the Billboard 200 chart and having sold over 2.5 million copies in 2014 alone. The second film hit theaters three years later and prove to be a near equal success to its predecessor, grossing over $800 million at the box office and earning more acclaim from critics and audiences who continued to praise the performances, direction, soundtrack and story while some criticized a feeling of familiarity in some of the film’s humor.

Black Panther arrived in February of 2018 with Chadwick Boseman in the titular role. Creeddirector Ryan Coogler stepped behind the camera for the movie, which featured an amazing ensemble including Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis. Black Panther debuted in 2018 to the tune of  $1.3 billion at the worldwide box office and became the first Marvel Studios movie to win an Academy Award, taking home three of the coveted prizes.

Captain Marvel was released in March of 2019 with Brie Larson starring as the titular hero, delivering a tale set in the early 90s of the MCU and offering a chance to see a young Nick Fury as well as introducing the sinister Skrulls from the pages of Marvel comics. The film also starred Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, with Annette Bening, and Jude Law. Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck directed the film which brought in $1.12 billion worldwide

State Witness Tells Court Lungu Applied to Have ‘Chagwa’ on NRc

A State witness has told the Lusaka Magistrates Court that President Edgar Lungu added the name Chagwa to his details on his original National Registration card (NRC) bearing the number 216992/67/1.

Agness Musonda, a registrar at the Department of National Registration, Passport and Citizenship, was giving testimony in the case in which Labour Party president Fresher Siwale is facing charges of defamation of the President.

He is alleged to have defamed the President when he stated that President Edgar Lungu’s real name is Jonathan Mutaware and not Edgar Chagwa Lungu.

Musonda testified that NRC number 216992/67/1 was in the name Edgar Lungu and in 1986, there was an application to add a name after which “Chagwa” was added on November 18, 1986.

She further testified that she received a letter from the Inspector General of Police requesting verification of two National Registration Card (NRC) numbers.

She said the first one was 216992/67/1 and the second one was NRC number 652489/11/1

Musonda told magistrate Alice Walusiku that after checking the records, she informed police that the first NRC number was issued to Edgar Lungu born on November 11, 1956, Ndola and that at the time he was getting his NRC, he was residing in Kitwe’s Chimwemwe area.

“I provided this information to the Zambia Police through the office of the Inspector General…on November, 18 1986 Lungu Edgar added Chagwa to the name and the changes were recorded at the back of the records as is the case when someone changes, or loses a card. And as of today, the records show Edgar Chagwa Lungu on NRC number 216992/67/1,” she said.

Siwale is alleged to have, on April 22, 2018, with intent to bring the name of President Edgar Lungu into ridicule, published defamatory matter by word of mouth by saying that the President of the Republic of Zambia had other names, alleging  that Edgar Chagwa Lungu were not his actual names.

Siwale is also accused of having called for the arrest of President Lungu for having three National Registration Cards.

‘IRAN IS IN BIG TROUBLE’ Donald Trump vows to stand up for UK after Iran seizes two British oil tankers

As Donald Trump warns Iran, Tehran now faces off with UK over seized tanker

DONALD Trump has vowed to stand up for the UK over the “hostile” seizure of two British oil tankers, saying: “Iran is in big trouble”.

The Stena Impero and Mesdar were halted by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards and diverted to their waters less than an hour apart today in the Gulf.

Trump has vowed to stand up for the UK over the seizure of two British oil tankers

British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt has declared there will be “serious consequences” as tensions escalate in the flashpoint region.

And the US President has promised he will back up the UK to honour the long-standing special relationship.

“Iran is showing their true colours,” he told reporters on the South Lawn of the White House as he departed for a weekend in New Jersey.

“Iran is in big trouble.”

He added that the US and the UK will be working together to find a solution to the worsening tanker row.

“Well, as you know we have a very close alliance with the UK and we always have,” Trump said.

“We don’t have very many tankers going in but we have a lot of warships there and we’ll talk to the UK.

“We have no written agreement but we have an agreement but they’ve been a very great ally of ours.”

‘NOTHING BUT TROUBLE’

Trump then branded Iran “nothing but trouble”.

“And remember this, the agreement, the ridiculous agreement made by President Obama, expires in a very short period of time.

“It was a short term agreement. When you’re dealing in countries, you have to deal in 50 years and 100 years.”

The Government’s Cobra committee held an emergency meeting in Whitehall after the Stena Impero and Mesdar were halted by troops in speedboats and helicopters and diverted to Iran.

British-flagged Stena Impero was sailing to the Saudi port of Jubail but map tracking data shows it veered off course with a sharp turn north at around 4.17pm UK time.

Iran’s state news agency IRNA said it had been “impounded” and claimed the tanker had turned off its tracker, ignored warnings from the Revolutionary Guards and was sailing in the wrong direction in a shipping lane.

The Foreign Office said it was urgently seeking clarification on the situation

State-controlled TV claimed the ship was seized because it was “violating international maritime rules”.

Less than an hour later at around 5pm the Mesdar – Liberian-flagged but operated by the UK firm Norbulk Shipping UK – also turned sharply north towards Iran’s coast after passing westward through the Strait.

Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency reported regional military sources saying the vessel had been allowed to continue its journey after armed troops boarded and issued a warning.

Tracking data indicated the Mesdar had changed direction a second time and started heading west into the Gulf.

A statement from Norbulk said: “Communication has been re-established with the vessel and Master confirmed that the armed guards have left and the vessel is free to continue the voyage. All crew are safe and well.”

NO BRITS ON BOARD EITHER TANKER

But the Impero was taken to an Iranian port along with its 23 crew. It is thought no British citizens were on board either ship.

The Royal Navy’s Type-23 frigate HMS Montrose was in Omani waters and tried to steam to the rescue but was around ten minutes too late, according to The Times.

Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt said: “I’m extremely concerned by the seizure of two vessels by Iranian authorities in the Strait of Hormuz.

“These seizures are unacceptable. It is essential that freedom of navigation is maintained and that all ships can move safely and freely in the region.”

Mr Hunt later added: “We will respond in a way is considered but robust, and we are absolutely clear that if this situation is not resolved quickly there will be serious consequences.”

Mr Hunt continued: “We’re not looking at military options, we are a looking at diplomatic way to resolve the situation.

“But we are very clear that it must be resolved.”

TWO WEEKS AFTER UK SEIZED IRANIAN SUPERTANKER

The seizure of the two British oil tankers comes two weeks after Royal Marines seized a supertanker believed to be carrying Iranian crude oil to Syria on July 4.

The oil tanker Grace 1 was detained on suspicion it was breaking European sanctions by taking oil to Syria.

Iran has since been threatening to seize a British tanker in retaliation if the Grace 1 is not released.

Three Iranian boats also tried to seize a BP oil tanker as it passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday July 10.

Royal Navy frigate HMS Montrose – which was escorting the tanker through the flashpoint region – was forced to sail in front of the boats.

After quickly training its 30mm deck guns on the enemy boats, deploying its Wildcat helicopter and issuing a radio warning, the Iranian boats scarpered.

HMS Duncan was then deployed to patrol the busy shipping lane as all UK flagged vessels were put on the highest security alert level.

FLASHPOINT

But an Iranian bomb boat was found in its path, meaning the HMS Duncan could have been destroyed by the unmanned attack ship packed with explosives, the Mirror reports.

Iran had earlier been blamed for a series of devastating sea mine attacks on US-linked oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.

Last month, Trump called off a planned airstrike on Iranian military targets at the last minute in retaliation for the shooting down of an unmanned US drone.

Yesterday, US warship the USS Boxer downed an Iranian drone near the Persian Gulf with officials saying they used electronic jamming to bring the unmanned craft down.

Iran though completely denied this saying the US had mistakenly downed one of its own drones.

Iran has been squaring up to the West as it reels over the scrapping of the so-called nuclear deal by the US

EVERYTHING TO KNOW ABOUT BEYONCÉ’S ‘LION KING’ SOUNDTRACK: BLUE IVY, WIZKID, TIERRA WHACK AND MUSICAL MORE APPEARANCES

“Hakuna Matata” won’t be the only song The Lion King fans will be singing now that Disney’s live-action remake finally hit theaters on Friday. In addition to the film’s original motion picture soundtrack, Beyoncé, who stars as the voice of Nala, is also releasing a special soundtrack of her own titled, The Lion King: The Gift.

The Lion King’s original soundtrack released on streaming platforms in early July. The album includes music composed by Hans Zimmer, who scored the 1994 animation, as well as character favorites like “I Just Can’t Wait to be King,” “Be Prepared,” and Beyoncé, Seth Rogen, Donald Glover and Billy Eichner’s rendition of “Can You Feel the Love Tonight.” The album also includes a host of new songs featured in the live-action movie.

Meanwhile, Beyoncé’s special edition The Gift became available for streaming and purchase on Friday.
The project, which Beyoncé produced and curated, will feature a number of new songs written and performed by a variety of artists. Beyoncé’s latest single “Spirit” is the only song included on both The Gift and the film’s original soundtrack, and while it may be the standout, the remaining 13 tracks are definitely worth the listen.

Beyoncé appears on many songs on the special album, however, it’s the features that shine in the spotlight. Artists like Beyoncé’s husband Jay-Z and her Lion King castmate Glover, who voices Simba, appear alongside her for the song “Mood 4 Eva,” while other guest features include songs by musicians like Tierra Whack, Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell, SAINt JHN, O70 Shake and Jessie Reyez shine on others.
The album also features a plethora of African artists including popular Nigerian performers WizKid, Burna Boy, Tekno, Yemi Alade, Tiwa Savage and Mr. Eazi, along with Salatiel, who reigns from Cameroon, Ghanaian musician Shatta Wale and South African singers Busiswa and Moonchild Sanelly.

Huawei’s new OS is for industrial use, not Android replacement

Seems Hongmeng isn’t the Android replacement it’s been pitched as, after all. The initial story certainly tracked, as Huawei has been preparing for the very real possibility of life after Google, but the Chinese hardware giant says the operating system is primarily focused on industrial use.

The latest report arrives courtesy of Chinese state news agency, Xinhua, which notes that the OS has been in development for far longer than the Trump-led Huawei ban has been in effect. Hongmeng is a relatively simple operating system compared to the likes of Android, according to SVP, Catherine Chen. The news echoes another recent report that Huawei had initially developed the software for use on IoT devices.

None of this means that Huawei isn’t working on a full mobile operating system, of course. Or that the sees of this new OS couldn’t be adapted to do more.

And given the recent news, such a move would be a pretty good use of the company’s vast resources. After all, it’s no doubt seen the writing on the wall for some time. While no one anticipated that such a ban would arrive so suddenly, questions about the company have been floated in security circles for years now.

New restrictions from the Trump administration barred Huawei from working with American companies like Google, but temporary reprieves have allowed the smartphone maker to employ Android services — at least temporarily. Questions about the company’s health are still very much up in the air, however, as the ban ramps back up.

Petition to free A$AP Rocky from prison attracts 300,000 signatures

He was arrested last week.

A petition to demand the release of rapper A$AP Rocky from a Swedish prison has so attracted nearly 300,000 signatures.

The rapper and two of his associates were arrested by Swedish authorities last week following allegations that they assaulted a man, and they are currently being held in Stockholm on pre-trial detention for two weeks.

Now, a petition launched by his hip-hop collective, ASAP Mob, is calling for his release, alleging he has been denied the right to fair legal representation and is being held in “inhumane conditions”.

While Swedish authorities have denied the claims, the petition has attracted the signatures of rappers including Post Malone, Lil Yachty, Miguel and ASAP Ferg.

On Wednesday morning, more than 293,000 people had signed the plea.

Posting it on Instagram, Post Malone wrote: “Always strive and prosper. Love you very much. #justiceforrocky.”

Odd Future founder Tyler, The Creator previously said that he would boycott Sweden as a result of the arrest.

The petition specifically claims that ASAP and three associates were acting in self-defence when they were involved in a fight, claiming they were followed through the streets of Stockholm and harassed.

It states: “We are surprised that something like this could happen in Sweden to people who were minding their business and forced to defend themselves from a group of assailants.

“This should be about justice. Rocky has been in prison for six days for the use of self-defence.”

In the wake of his arrest, the rapper was forced to cancel a string of performances – including headline slots at Poland’s Open’er and London’s Wireless Festival.
